About the Event
Join us for an intimate evening with Helen Shiller—author, activist, and artist—as she presents her memoir Daring to Struggle, Daring to Win. The book tells the story of her journey from anti-war activism in Wisconsin, to allyship with the Black Panther Party in Chicago, to a 40-year fight for justice as an independent city council member.
About the Book
Daring to Struggle, Daring to Win offers a rare inside look at grassroots organizing, political battles, and the fight against gentrification in Chicago from the 1970s through 2010. It is a story about resilience, solidarity, and the enduring struggle for justice—lessons that remain deeply relevant today.
